Future of journalism/journalists

Todays "The Hindu" carried an article about Asian college of Journalism, and how the students of Country's premier institution run by none other than Shashi kumar menon chairman of the Media development foundation that runs the college are pleased with the results that they have been able to achieve. Its time of campus recruitments, and almost all the leading business houses in print/television are vying with each other to grab the best in talent the college has to offer. And more importantly those students who have been writing on the net,How they find they could land jobs that have a better compensation package than what one could ever dream of,todays going rate for starters for an established journalism candidate passing out is notheing less than Rs 20,000/- for starters and could be high as Rs50,000/-.Luckily the entire campus placements are done in transparent way, that brings joy, compared to other institutions where there is not such transparency.Students who once accept an offer, are out of contention, and students who want to think it over before making the final commitment are given two to three days time to decide.MOst of the nations Highly respectable media find a place in the Campus recruitments .It appears a Huge inflow of foreign investments are expected in the field of media, hence the rush to grab the best of available talent.Should augur well for those young ones who pass out of Asian College of Journalism, and also augur well for the country too, with more dedicated journalists taught by professionals in the media.
